Other facts can be gleaned by studying English harvest home traditions, available foodstuffs and cooking techniques, Separatist religious practices and seventeenth century English social patterns and customs.

The Thanksgiving Primer is a collection of information on all these subjects, prepared by Plymoth Plantation museum staff to answer the questions of students, teachers and religious organizations and community groups. It responds to the most frequently-asked questions about the First Thanksgiving and is intended to serve as your guide to re-creating the original seventeenth century event.

It is an overview of how to enjoy an authentic Pilgrim Thanksgiving in your own home, and includes accurate information concerning dinner menus, music, and the prayers of the Pilgrim Fathers.
