Thou madest him [man] to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! —Psalm 8:6-9
In Genesis 1:28, God commissioned man to take dominion over the earth. That message was repeated to Noah after the Flood and then again through the Psalmist. Taking dominion is a duty that remains critical to the calling of man today. We have both the responsibility and the privilege of stewarding our Lord's creation. But have Christians done this?
Joel Salatin argues that many Christians have allowed the "dominion" mandate to become the "destruction" mandate. Meanwhile, concern over stewardship of the earth has been increasingly usurped by pagan earth-worshippers who recognize real problems, but who attempt to remedy them with unbiblical solutions. It's time to take back our job! Redeeming the Earth is a hope-filled message designed to remind Christians of our responsibility.
A world-renowned farmer, writer, and speaker, Mr. Salatin is also a passionate Christian who has used his farm in rural Virginia to showcase innovate agricultural methods and gain a national platform for advocating proper stewardship.
