Below is a link to a recent Washington Post article dealing with the ever growing issue of fertility treatments, parenthood, and the fallen-mans quest to act as God. The article deals with the issue of multiple-pregnancies as a result of using fertility drugs and the “selection process” that takes place as couples choose the babies that they keep and “cancel” the pregnancies they do not want — or more appropriately stated: as they murder the children that God has given them. In this grievous article we see doctors matter-of-factly justifying the selective birth process by making states like: “It’s a selective abortion, really,” “…but it makes the chances of having a healthy baby far greater.”
As the body of Christ we should not be shocked by such statements. It should grieve us and bring us to repentance. With the wide acceptance of over-the-counter contraceptives by many that claim to uphold the name of Jesus Christ, and the perverse use of technology in our medical system, the church must cry out for repentance for condoning the unbiblical mindset that man has the right to control the womb and not The Creator who has given us life. By accepting contraceptives and unnatural fertility procedures, we have conceded the premise that God in control of the womb, and we have replaced it with a perverse view of life that ultimately results in selective abortion and the complete devaluing of life. As faithful Christians, We must train our children to know they are loved and that this love comes because they are blessings sent from God, and not merely some doctors’ selection from under a microscope. As the world continues on the path of destruction, we must hold to the fundamental truths set forth in scripture and never forget that from the moment we were conceived to the time that we pass from this Earth, we are under the subjection and love of an almighty Creator.
