This week’s Christian Booksellers Association in Atlanta

Our good friend and yokefellow in the cause of Christ, Gary Demar, president of American Vision, visited with us on Tuesday of this week. Gary’s Biblical Worldview magazine has the best articles of any publication currently in circulation of which I am aware on developing and applying a Christian worldview to current events. If you do not currently subscribe, you must. While so many in recent years have set aside the rich philosophical victories of the past for the new and theologically trendy, Gary continues to hold the line.

Also pictured in this image are Phil Lancaster of Patriarch Magazine, Wesley Strackbein of the Vision Forum and Steve McGarvey, a good friend, former student of mine and professional writer.

Last year the Phillips family had the honor of visiting the Honolulu Bible Church where I preached a message on the Fifth Commandment. Under the leadership of Pastor Bob and the elders of the assembly, the Honolulu Bible Church has raised an uncompromising standard for Christ, and has excelled at finding Christ-honoring creative means to reach the people of Oahu with the Faith. One of their most impressive ministries is a coffee and book shop they have created in the middle of town called Covenant Books and Coffee which offers magnificent coffee, gourmet sandwiches and uncompromising books and literature. Visitors to the shop get a free book if they can name all the images of the Reformers which hang on the wall. It was a blessing to see Kevin Condo, who helps to manage Covenant Books and Coffee, and who has a real passion for the Reformed faith.

I spent nearly two hours with film producers Rich and Dave Christianos as we discussed a biblical vision for film and culture, and the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival. (Rich is serving as a judge and will be bringing some workshops on the future of independent Christian film.) Rich is the director/producer of Timechangers, a crucial film on why morality can not be taught without Jesus Christ. Dave is the Director/Producer of Pamela’s Prayer, a film about a girl who remained physically pure, not even kissing until reaching the altar.
