Big Announcement for San Antonio Film Community?

In God’s providence, just two months after Vision Forum announced the launch of our new Christian Filmmakers Academy to be added to the work of the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival, the
local San Antonio newspapers are claiming
that the Alamo City may be on the verge of a major announcement with national implications for the independent film world:

Rumors are flying about a big announcement on Wednesday, promising thousands of new jobs in the film industry, in San Antonio. But many top officials, normally in-the-know about such projects, say they’re in the dark on this one. A new non-profit group, called the Greater San Antonio Film Council, is expected to make the announcement that an unnamed university is going to be opening a film school here.

According to Al Frakes, head of the council, the project will bring at least 3,500 jobs and a hotel and conference center. Frakes also says he’s received major commitments from film producers to bring several million dollars in productions to San Antonio. Frakes say the funding is already in place and that it has come from the private sector, no public dollars.
