Did Her Research

Mr. Phillips, I want to tell you that I watched your program last night and was struck dumb by the video of the tour guide and her comments and the laws of the colony. I know her intent was to show just how crazy those Christian, capitalist, landgrabbers were. Yet today, the environmentalist may rob men of their livelihood if not their lives because the land they wish to farm or develop his the habitat of a bird or bug.I searched online for the laws of Jamestown to find the law she was refering to (I’ve gotten quite good in my researching skills thanks to the Jamestown 400 hunt began and I had a little down time). The law reads as follows

“What man or woman soever, shall rob any garden, public or private, being set to weed the same, or wilfully pluck up therin any root , herb , or flower, to spoil and wast or steal the same, or robbe any vineyard, or gather up the grapes, or steal any ears of the corn growing, whether in the ground belonging to the same fort or town where he dwells , or in any other...”

The tour guide failed to put the law in context. It was written in 1610 during the starving time and law was about stealing the food (and therefore the chance of survival) from another man’s garden. I want to thank you for teaching my family and I to seek the truth of America’s Christian heritage for ourselves rather than rely on want Hollywood or the educational elite or the major media wants us to believe.
