A Conversation With Two Thoughtful Young Ladies

Some of my favorite conversations are with babes in the Lord.

It is out of the mouth of babes that the most profound truths and insights emerge.

That is the benefit of being pure at heart.

These two young ladies came up to me after the Vision Forum Ministries Father and Daughter Retreat to ask me about multi-generational playthings. They told me that they were beginning to look for and save special toys and precious items to give someday to their children and grandchildren. They wanted to know if I did the same, and what toys were the best to save to give to future generations. I told them about a set of soldiers that I had from childhood, which are now favorites of my younger sons. I also told them stories about how my little boys climb onto my chair and on my back when I am in my home office and place the soldiers all over Daddy and his desk, and what a joy that is for Daddy.

They responded with sincere interest, and thanked me for “helping them think multi-generationally.” I responded by letting them know that they, not I, had been the true instructor.
