More Than 1300 Attend The Mysterious Islands on the Anniversary of Darwin's Book

The historic Alabama Theater was brimming with people as more than 1300 attended the premiere of The Mysterious Islands on the 150th anniversary of the publication of Darwin’s On the Origin of Species. Built in the 1920’s, before the Scopes Trial, this gorgeous facility was the ideal location for the hundreds of home educators, Christian students, lawmakers and public officials and Christian leaders to come to be reminded of the raging war of the worldviews between the religious worldview of evolutionary scientism, and the worldview of biblical Christianity which guided the founding fathers of this nation.

The evening opened with a magnanimous introduction by Senator Hank Erwin, who introduced a number of the dignitaries present including Alabama Supreme Court Justice Tom Parker, and was followed by a brief commentary from Doug Phillips who reminded the audience that while “evolutionists, atheists and agnostics around the world of many stripes are celebrating what they believe to be the victory of Darwin on this anniversary night, we are here to proclaim that Jesus Christ is the creator who reigns victorious over the vain speculations of science, so-called.”

The audience responded to the conclusion of the film with a gracious standing ovation, and the screening was followed by a Q and A with the filmmakers, a composer, and members of the team that travelled to the Galapagos. After the premiere, cast members signed posters and photos for those in attendance.

The Mysterious Islands will premiere in Huntsville tonight, at the Space Center.
