Update on Matching Funds Opportunity for
‘The Mysterious Islands’ Film Project
Dear Friends,
I am writing to you from Alabama where the filmmakers and I are hard at work as we scramble to put the final touches on our new film, The Mysterious Islands. The isles of the Galapagos are truly a world of wonder, and it is exciting to be able to showcase the glories of God’s creation through this documentary, even as we refute the pernicious fallacies of Darwin on the anniversary of the publication of On the Origin of Species. We are nearing the finish line on this timely project, and we solicit your prayers.
Meanwhile, the press is abuzz with all-things Darwin as the November 24 anniversary date of the publication of his landmark book draws near. Over the last week, a flood of articles on Darwin have appeared in the media, highlighting an “Origin of Species” fashion show in Paris, an “Origin Cycle” ensemble performance at Stanford University, a pro-Darwin stage show in London starring Kevin Spacey, a new Emma Darwin recipe book, the release of a major motion picture that lionizes Darwin starring Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connally, and two feature articles on the Galapagos Islands in the New York Times — and this is just the tip of the iceberg.
On Monday of this week, I mentioned that, in the providence of God, the Lord has kindly sent us a donor who has made a $50,000 challenge to help us raise the necessary funds to complete our film and have the maximum impact getting it out to impact our culture. The challenge was this: If we are able to raise $25,000 in the next seven days, he will match that amount with his own $25,000. (Click her to read the letter and plans for promotion sent out on Monday).
The seven day period allotted to us will end this coming Monday, October 12th, and I am pleased to report that we are less than $10,000 away from reaching our goal. Would you consider helping us with this effort? If you believe in this mission, then I would welcome your assistance in meeting this generous matching grant. For those of you who have given — thank you for your love and support for this work!
