Miss Manners Promotes the Perversion of Etiquette

He who defines wins. Cultures are subverted through language. Christians who believe that Christ must be Lord of our language, our manners and our culture, must strive to be epistemologically self-conscious of the customs and verbiage they embrace. No Christian woman, for example, should describe herself with the anti-patriarchal and feminist term “Ms.”

Nor should Christians turn to Christian culture subverters like Miss Manners for standards of ettiquette. An example of her influence in the subversion of family life in America is evidenced in her July 21 syndicated column, an excerpt of which is featured below:

DEAR Miss Manners: Now that same-sex marriages are upon us, how does one address an invitation to a same-sex couple? Is it “Mr. and Mrs.”? “Mr. and Mr.”? “Ms. and Ms.”? “Mrs. and Mrs.”? If one female partner prefers the “Ms.” title while the other is more traditional, would it then be “Ms.” and “Mrs.”? How is one to know who which partner is “Mr.” and which is “Mrs.” (or “Ms.”), etc., etc.?...

Gentle Reader: Miss Manners is afraid that you need basic instruction on matters related to gender, as well as some new software. The act of marriage does not change people’s genders, and it may or may not change their names. Two gentlemen who marry would therefore each be addressed by his full name with the appropriate honorific (Mr., Dr., Col.) unless they take the same surname, in which case they would be addressed jointly as, for example, “The Messrs. William and Harry Fitzgibbon.” Similarly, two ladies would be addressed as “Mesdames Emily and Lucia March,” but if they had different surnames they would be addressed individually with the title each holds or prefers, if you know it, and “Ms.”...

Vision Forum Attempts A Response to Petitioner’s Query:

Gentle Reader: If two men present themselves to you as married, please turn to them and say: “Fellas, you have no more right to claim to be married than my dog can claim to be the kinsman redeemer to my neighbor’s horse.  Nor should I or any law-abiding man ever present you to others or address you as anything but moral criminals, given the fact that you are openly flaunting a behavior which is perverse, contrary to the laws of God, in violation of the law of this nation as established by more than a millenia of Christian common law (notwithstanding the lawless declarations of renegade modern judges), and are an actual source of medical and moral plagues to the children of this nation.

This means your behavior is not only evil, it is dangerous to others. At the heart of your wickedness, however, is a plague more serious than AIDs, a plague that I too contracted at the moment of conception in my mother’s womb. This plague is called sin. The only remedy for this malignant plague is the Holy Spirit-created regeneration of soul. Remarkably, through a genuine miracle I was given the antidote. Thankfully, this plague-destroying miracle is available to all who will believe in Jesus Christ as Lord. Even better, this miracle is available at a remarkable price—-it is free. On the other hand, you need to know that the plague of sin you have contracted (and through your own volition perpetuate) is enormously costly. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. Therefore flee to Christ. Turn from your sin. Confess that Jesus is Lord and stop pretending to be something that you are not. You can have great hope—precisely because God gave his promises to Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.”
