Tattoos and body mutilation are forms of paganism which should find no refuge within the Christian community. But now there is a reason why some docs are concerned as well. Today I received a report from Harrisonburg, Virginia that there is a severe shortage at the local blood bank. The reason is that more and more young people are getting tattoos. Anyone getting a tattoo must wait a year before giving blood. Similarly, people getting pierced anywhere other than their ear must also wait a year. Since so many kids are getting tattoos and pierced in odd locations, they have to wait. The report indicated that 50 percent of college students have some form of piercing and about 1 in 4 have a tattoo or other body art.
