Even in Burial, Terri Does Not Escape the Spin Doctors

Michael Schiavo murdered his wife. You may not like that language, but this is what he did. With the help of the court, Mr. Schiavo forcibly starved and dehydrated to death his physically thriving wife. In so doing, he broke the law of God and broke (again — he is an adulterer) his marriage vows. Not content to send his wife to her grave, Mr. Schiavo must stick it to Terri and her parents one last time by (1) denying her a Christian burial of the body (he cremated her remains); and (2) turning her very grave into his own personal “mea culpa.”

The Associated Press is reporting that Michael Schiavo angered his late wife’s family by not notifying them of the burial of Terri’s ashes on Monday. Michael inscribed the grave marker with the words, “Departed this Earth February 26, 1990” (the day she collapsed at home for unknown reasons) and then “At Peace March 31, 2005” (the date of her actual death, thirteen days after her feeding tube was removed by court order). Also inscribed were the words, “I kept my promise,” referring to Michael Schiavo’s alleged commitment to let his wife die. Read the story and see the grave marker here.
