With hundreds of thousands of dead, and TWO MILLION refugees in the streets, there is probably no place on earth in greater need of immediate help than Haiti. Many organizations have responded to the call and are working in Haiti now. Some of these are connected with the United Nations. Others with diverse international relief organizations. Some of these organizations have offered significant practical helps. Others have hindered true Christian humanitarian efforts because of their anti-family agenda—both UNICEF and Planned Parenthood are examples of two of these.
On the other hand, Christians with a full Great Commission vision have the greatest potential to bring long-term healing to this nation. This means a vision for rebuilding the local church, the family, commerce, and the nation itself, by discipling the people of Haiti in “all things whatsoever I have commanded.” (Matthew 28:20) It means freeing the people of Haiti from the crippling bondage of voodoo which has a powerful grip on millions of Haitians, and replacing this spiritual enslavement with Gospel redemption.
But Step One is for Christians to meet the immediate needs of the people of Haiti and to demonstrate the love of Christ by visiting widows and orphans in their distress, for this is “pure religion” (James 1:27). Certainly, one of the greatest testimonies to the power of Christ and the presence of the Church of Jesus Christ (against which the gates of Hell shall not prevail) is the amazing collaborative effort of the Body of Christ present at this moment in Haiti. In this video report we look at a few testimonies to the power of God in bringing about a Christ-honoring collaborative effort in relieving the sick, the wounded, and the orphaned.
