I am about to get a dedicated line—with a message on it—“Call this number if you are engaged to be married.” After about the dozenth call this year from friends, I began to wonder what in the world was going on. Life is often feast or famine, but wow—I will be participating in or attending the nuptials of about eight good friends (four weddings) over the next two months.
And that is just the beginning. I have already been warned that more announcements are coming. All this, after a year in which no less than a dozen friends, church members and/or staffers at VF have already walked down the aisle. Meanwhile, I keep reading articles and hearing rumblings throughout the home school community that there is a wedding crisis. To blame is the culture, or the fathers, or the gals, or the guys—depending on where you are standing.
But is this true? Are we suffering from a wedding crisis of too few, too young, too old, too many, too little, too “something” marriages in the Christian community? Are we suffering from a plethora of pushy mothers, unrealistic daughters, unprepared men, and impossible fathers? Are we “wishing and a-hoping” too much or too little?
Come back next week for a humorous and practical look at “The Wedding Crisis?”
